Principle Designer
In accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), clients must appoint a Principal Designer for any project involving more than one contractor.
A Principal Designer is an individual or organisation responsible for managing health and safety during the pre-construction phase. Their role is to plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate all health and safety aspects before construction work begins.

The Principal Contractor is the company responsible for managing and controlling the construction phase of the project. The client appoints them in writing to plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health and safety during this time.
